SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
Established in 1902, Valley Catholic High School is an independent, co-educational,
college preparatory community, known for its academic excellence and particularly
strong programs in fine arts, athletics, and international studies. Located in the Wil-
lamette Valley, eight miles west of Portland, Beaverton serves as home to a professional,
managerial, and technical workforce. VCHS has an enrollment of approximately 330
students in grades 9-12. The high school lives on a larger campus with students in
younger grades making Valley Catholic School the only Catholic institution in Oregon to
provide a kindergarten through high school experience.
The senior class usually numbers 90 students, with approximately 90% of Valley Catho-
lic students testing for the SAT or ACT exams. All seniors are required to apply to at
least one four-year college or university. The school does not rank its student body.
Our 43-acre campus consists of open green spaces, old growth timbers, manicured
gardens, a wetland refuge, and architecturally distinctive buildings. Within our Catholic
community students can develop to their full maturity and responsibility as Christian
citizens. The school strives to teach students how to search for truth, and to face life
without prejudice.
